NetID Deactivations for Fall 2009

Posted: 04:30:00, Tuesday, Oct 27, 2009   Expiration: 00:00:00, Monday, Dec 7, 2009

NetID account administrators deactivate NetIDs twice per year for employees and students who are no longer affiliated with the University. If your NetID is scheduled to be deactivated, follow the procedures below to grant yourself a grace period until November 30th or to dispute your eligibility. Otherwise, NetID accounts will be deleted on December 1st.

Request Grace Period

Click on the following link to access the NetID Deactivation Assistant and request a grace period: https://www.mynetid.wisc.edu/deactivation.

A grace period will keep your NetID active until November 30th. You should use this time to backup any email or files stored on WiscMail, MyWebspace, or any other NetID-restricted resource. Your data will be permanently purged following deactivation on December 1st..

Dispute your eligibility

If you believe you should be eligible for a NetID, you should still grant yourself a grace period by using the NetID Deactivation Assistant. Once you have received a grace period, you will be asked if you want to dispute your eligibility.

You will be asked a series of questions about your current role with the university. Once you have answered the questions, one of two scenarios will occur:

  1. The NetID Deactivation Assistant will offer you a possible explanation as to why you are not eligible. You should take actions to resolve the eligibility issues that you receive. If you still want to dispute your eligibility, a link is provided for you to do so. Your dispute will be sent to the DoIT Help Desk, who will give you a response within 2-3 business days.

  2. The NetID Deactivation Assistant will offer to send a case to the DoIT Help Desk. You will receive a response within 2-3 business days regarding your eligibility.

  3. Submitting an eligibility dispute does not prevent your account from being purged on December 1st. If the underlying eligibility problem is not fixed before then, your account will be purged.
