This document explains how to install the Intelligence client plug-in for use with Hyperion 8 using Internet Explorer. There is also an installation document for Hyperion Intelligence Client using Firefox
Please Note
- Your computer must meet Hyperion system requirements. See FASTAR - Hyperion - Recommended Browsers and System Requirements for details.
- In addition, you must be licensed to use this client as of October 5, 2007. For information about finding out if you are licensed, and how to get licensed if not, please see FASTAR - Hyperion - Licensing the Hyperion Intelligence Clients.
Once you are logged into the Hyperion 8 Foundation (see Logging in to the Foundation (Hyperion Portal)) you may need to install the Hyperion Intelligence Insight client/plug-in to view Hyperion queries.
This plug-in will attempt to install automatically the first time you attempt to open a .bqy file. When you find a document, you must click on the 
icon by the document description.
Immediately you will see a page Checking Hyperion Intelligence Client status, and possibly, depending on your browser's settings, a dialogue asking if you noticed the Information bar:
Note: If nothing happens when attempting to run a report for the first time, please ensure it is not being blocked by a popup blocker. You will need to allow popups from the site or turn your popup blocker off. See our popup blocker FAQ. If instead of the above box you get a window that appears prompting you to save the file, the browser thinks the plug-in is already installed, see FASTAR - Hyperion - Troubleshooting the Intelligence 8 Plug-In Installation.
Click the yellow bar at the top of the Checking screen and select Install ActiveX Control.
A security warning will pop up, click Install.
Next the install shield wizard will run. It may take a minute or two but you will see
After another minute or two Install Shield will show you
then moving to a configuration selection box:
Unselect the default items Help Files and Font Files for the fastest installation, about 5 minutes.

The installation progress will display until finally...
A box will pop up informing you when the installation has been successful. Click OK
Before the document is displayed, you may be prompted to select the display language (a new 8.5 feature!) There are two separate dialogue boxes to respond to. FASTAR recommends selecting the default English and check the box "Use this choice by default" before clicking OK in both dialogues.
