This document describes the process for printing to a GoPrint server from personal computers connected to UW-Madison's network.
Click on the Start Menu
and select Control Panel.
Click on Printer or Printers. This is located just underneath Hardware and Sound or is sorted alphabetically, depending if the control panel is in classic view or not.
Click Add a printer at the top of the window.

Click on Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.

Click on The printer that I want isn't listed.

Choose Select a shared printer by name and enter \\SERVER_NAME\QUEUE_NAME.
The first example below is connecting to the queue MEMORIAL_Color on the goprint.doit.wisc.edu server. The second is connecting to the queue EARTREF_HP4200N on libgoprint.library.wisc.edu.

See GoPrint - Printer Queue Names and Locations to determine what queue you want to connect to. Click Next after you have entered this.
You will be prompted for a username and password. This is NOT your NetID password. Use the credentials listed for the server you're connecting to at the end of this document (see GoPrint - Printer Queue Names and Locations).
A window may then come up asking you if you would like to install a driver for the printer. You must install the driver in order to print properly. Click Install Driver.

You will then be asked to name the Printer, and if Windows should make it the default printer. You cannot change the Printer name, but most likely you do not want this as your default printer. If you never print anywhere else, it may be wiser to leave this checked. Either choice will allow you to connect to GoPrint. Either leave the checkbox marked, or uncheck it and click Next.
The last page is a summary that allows you to print a test page, just click Finish.
Windows is now configured to print to GoPrint. If you did not set the printer as the default, make sure that you choose the GoPrint printer when you print from an Application.
Open the Start Menu, and go to Control Panel.
If you see "Pick A Category" in large letters, click
on the left. If "Pick A Category" does not appear, proceed to step 3.
Double click on Printers and Faxes.
On the left, click Add a printer. This will open the Add Printer Wizard.
The first screen of the wizard is just an information screen. Click Next.
Choose A network printer and click Next.

Select Connect to this printer. Enter \\SERVER_NAME\PRINT_QUEUE.

Use the credentials listed at the end of this document for the server you're connecting to (see GoPrint - Printer Queue Names and Locations).
After entering the username and password, you will be prompted to install printer drivers. Click Yes. This may take some time to complete, please be patient.
You will then be asked if you want to make this your default printer. Most likely you want to choose No for this; however, if you never print anywhere else, it may be wiser to choose Yes. Either choice will allow you to connect to GoPrint. Choose one and click Next.
The last screen is just a summary, click Finish.
