My WebSpace - Group Directories

This document describes a My WebSpace Group Directory.

Group Directories

My WebSpace Group Directories are available for use by departments and groups on campus. A Group Directory is a directory that is not associated with a personal My WebSpace account, but is located in a separate “Group Directories” area of My WebSpace. Each Group Directory has its own identity, trash can, storage quota and bandwidth quota that are separate from that of the users that have access to it. A primary administrator and backup administrator must be specified for each top level Group Directory that is created. These administrators will be responsible for setting the permissions and managing the trash can for the main directory.

Campus departments, committees and other groups can request a My WebSpace Group Directory on-line through the Group Directory Request Form. Each Group Directory will initially be allocated 1GB of storage quota and 1GB per hour of bandwidth quota. If you determine that 1GB of storage allocation still is not enough to meet your needs for institutional use, you can submit a request for additional space, using the My WebSpace Feedback Form. Each request for additional storage will be reviewed and evaluated within 3 business days, and the requestor will be contacted with the results of the evaluation. There is no charge for additional quota for instructional or university business.

The features of My WebSpace do not change, however group directories provides an easier way to share files among department or committee members.

You will be required to supply the following information:

• Directory Name (must be unique)
• Primary Administrator – NetID
• Back-up Administrator – NetID
• Description of the Need for the Directory

Once you have provided this information and submitted the request, your request will be evaluated and if approved your Group Directory will be created within 3 business days.If you are an administrator of the Group Directory a My WebSpace bookmark to the directory will also be automatically created for you.
