A list of the current state of ipv6 feature support among the equipment used in the UW-Madison campus network. The primary interest is management of the platforms via v6 and the ability to use the same features on v6 today as we use on v4.
| Feature | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| v6 on SVI | PASS | Can configure v6 on SVI |
| Syslog | PASS | Can send syslogs to an ipv6 server |
| DNS | PASS | Can be configured to use dns over ipv6 |
| Telnet | PASS | Can be reached via telnet over ipv6 |
| SSH | PASS | Can be reached via ssh over ipv6 |
| SNMP | Caution | SNMP reachable, but beware of a strange ACL issue: You need to permit both traffic to the host as well as the return traffic in the ACL |
| ACL | Caution | The switch MUST be in sdm prefer dual-ipv4-and-ipv6 mode. Also, there may be limitations as to how many bits can be matched |
| Radius | FAIL | switch CLI doesn't support v6 addr for radius |
| NTP | FAIL | switch CLI doesn't support v6 addr for ntp |
| Static Route | PASS | Configured with v6 static route |
| RIPng | untested | can the box announce v6 routes via rip? |
| OSPFv3 | untested | can the box announce v6 routes via ospf? This is only relevant if the box get's ospf stub support in ipbase, like 4500E |
| VRF lite | untested | vrf lite support for v6 |
| MLDv1 snooping | untested | prune mcast traffic by snooping MLDv1 |
| MLDv2 snooping | untested | prune mcast traffic by snooping MLDv2 |
