WiscVPN (Win) - Connecting with the WiscVPN AnyConnect Client


This document describes how to establish a connection to WiscVPN with the AnyConnect VPN client software.

  1. Click on Start > Program Files (or All Programs) > Cisco.

  2. You may see the following security error when you open the program. If so, click Yes.

  3. The VPN Client will start. Your default connection entry should be highlighted and all fields except Username/Passcode should be filled:

    If it is not filled, or if you wish to change connection type, use the following settings:

    • Connect to: wiscvpn.doit.wisc.edu
    • Group:
      • IP-pool: dynamic IP
      • IP-pool-OffCampus: dynamic IP, split tunneling
      • IP-static: static IP
      • IP-static-OnCampus: static IP, split tunneling
    • Username: NetID username
    • Passcode: NetID password
    NOTE: When you are on campus, you should connect using one of the OnCampus profiles. When you are connecting from off campus, it is best to use one of the OffCampus profiles. For a more technical description of why this is the best practice, please see WiscVPN - Split Tunneling>
  4. Click Connect to initiate a connection to WiscVPN.

  5. The AnyConnect icon will now appear in the Windows System Tray:

  6. To disconnect from WiscVPN, double-click on the AnyConnect VPN client icon in the Windows System Tray and select Disconnect from the Connection tab.
