Windows Vista - Application Compatibility Issues

This document details application vendor support for Vista and the results of software compatibility testing with the Windows Vista 32-bit operating system. All applications were tested on a fresh Windows Vista build, not an upgrade installation from Windows XP.

Please note that most vendors are only recently supporting Vista. The version of the software in use on your computer may need to be patched in order for it to function correctly on Windows Vista. Please visit the vendor website if you have any questions on Vista compatibility.

Microsoft has released a list of applications that have earned the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo or the "Works with Windows Vista" logo. Please visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933305 for details.

ACID Pro

Issues: Media Manager does not work because of its dependence on MSDE.

Issues: Adobe Update Manager can cause error messages when installing updates, but the updates install fine.

Issues: The License Manager does not function properly. It is possible to manually start LM from a command prompt. See the ESRI Support Center FAQ for more details.

Oxygen XML

Issues: Oxygen causes Java runtime errors when launched if the latest JRE is not used. See the Oxygen support forum for a work around.
