WiscChat (Psi) - Changing Your Status

This document explains what "status" means and how you can modify it.

Status is a string of text that describes your availability.

The default is "Available," meaning you are online or ready to chat. You can change this to "Away" if you want to stay online, but let people know you may not reply. There also is "DnD".

With many clients, you can customize the text that people see for any status type. You can put witty sentences, descriptions of mood, anything you like.

Use the procedures below to change your "status/presence".

Psi (Macintosh/Windows)

1. Start Psi client.
2. Click on 'Status' menu.
   
   The following will appear:
   

   To change your status, just click on any one of the existing status messages.

3. If you want to create a personalized message, click on the 'Psi' menu:
   
   For Windows: select Options from within 'General' menu.
   For Macintosh: select Preferences from within 'General' menu.
   
   The following will appear:
   

   Click on the Status option and the following will appear:
   

   
   
4. As you can see, there are many messages already available to you within the "Presets" section. But if you want to create others, just use the New button.
5. To select this new message, click on the "Status" drop down window and select your newly created status message.
