WiscList - Receiving Digests

A WiscList list member can configure his or her membership on a list to receive daily digests through the use of an e-mail command or the Discussion Forum Interface.

Note: List administrators must first enable the ability to allow members to change their own membership settings. Click here to learn how.

Option 1: Sending an Email Command

A list member can send the following e-mail command to wisclist@lists.wisc.edu to start receiving digests:

set [listname] mimedigest

Replace [listname] with the name of the list from which you want to receive digests. The name of the list is the part before the '@' symbol in the list address. Do not include the square brackets. Ex: The name of the list whose address is 'mylist@lists.wisc.edu' is 'mylist'.

Option 2: Using the Discussion Forum Interface

  1. Log into the Discussion Forum Address by visiting this URL: https://lists.wisc.edu/read/my_forums. If you do not know your password or do not see the list you want to work with when you log in, reset your password by following the instructions here: WiscList - Resetting a Forgotten Password.

  2. Click the name of the list from which you want to receive a digest. If you do not see the list you want to work with, follow the reset password procedure here: WiscList - Resetting a Forgotten Password. If you still cannot see the list after following the password reset procedure, the list administrators have not enabled the ability for members to change their own membership settings. Please contact the list's administrators by following the directions here: WiscList - Contacting List Administrators.

  3. Once you have selected the list you want to work with, select My Account from the left-hand navigational menu.

  4. Set Membership type to MIME digest. (Note: If you use the digest setting instead of MIME digest, any HTML will not be interpreted by your e-mail client, and attachments will not be accessible. We highly recommend you choose the MIME digest option.)

  5. Click Save Changes to save your settings.

  1. Log into the WiscList ListManager interface. (See: WiscList - Logging into WiscList)

  2. Verify the list you want to work with is selected. (See: WiscList - Working with Multiple Lists)

  3. Click the Utilities button on the left side of the interface to open the Utilities submenu.
