Streaming Media - Statistics

How to access the Streaming Media account specific viewer statistics.

You can access your usage statistics by copying and pasting the following URL into your browser and replacing "youraccountnamehere" with your account name that was e-mailed to you when your account was created.

http://mediastreamer.doit.wisc.edu/stats/youraccountnamehere

This will lead you to a directory which may include folders titled quicktime, flash and windows media depending on what technology you use. Click on the link that matches the type of media you use on your site.

Statistics are updated on a monthly basis. If you have links to empty folders that indicates that there was no log traffic that month and no stats were generated.

Stats 1

The media specific directory is where your usage reports are located. Each directory contains the reports for the previous time interval. The files are named in a month year format. You also have stats for all dates which cover from when your streaming media is first accessed not when your account was created. It also has a breakdown by the two most recent semesters using the naming convention "term semester 20xx".

Stats 2

When you reach the reports page for the period of time that you are interested in click on one of the six specific types of reports available, Traffic, Multimedia, Demographics, Systems, Time Online, or Diagnostic. For an explanation of the information you are viewing click on the questionmark button next to each graph.
