*Warning! The POP default setting on iPhone Mail removes email messages from your WiscMail Inbox. To configure iPhone Mail to work with WiscMail, select IMAP for incoming mail server.

Sync Desktop Email Client Configuration to your iPhone/iPod Touch

If you have one of the following desktop applications configured for WiscMail/WiscMail Plus, you can use iTunes to sync your mail settings to your device:

To configure iTunes to sync your WiscMail settings to your device:

  1. Start your desktop email application
  2. Start iTunes
  3. Click on your device
  4. Select the Info tab
  5. Scroll down to the Mail Accounts section and check the box labeled "Sync selected Mail accounts". If applicable, select the correct email program from the drop-down list and then place a check mark in the box next to the account you want to sync (i.e. your WiscMail account)
  6. Scroll to the Advanced section and place a check mark for "Mail accounts" under the 'Replace information on this iPod' area.
  7. Click the Sync button.

Note: With some desktop clients, you may be required to enter your password within the iPhone/iPod Touch Mail Settings.

You should now be able to use your device to interact with your WiscMail account.

UnPOPing an accidentally POPped Inbox

A common occurrence for people doing their own configuration is to identify the incoming mail server as a POP server rather than IMAP. The first time they connect to WiscMail, the Inbox disappears.

This mysterious event occurs because the iPhone Mail default settings for POP mail include the option to remove the messages from the server and put them in a folder on your local computer. To get those messages back to WiscMail, perform the following steps:

  1. Start iPhone Mail.
  2. Remove the POP account ( Settings -> Mail -> select the POP account, touch Remove),
  3. Create a New Account in iPhone Mail (using IMAP, as described above).
  4. Go to the Inbox that contains the messages (should be the top folder) and drag the messages you need to the IMAP account inbox (under your IMAP WiscMail email account).
  5. When all the messages have been moved, connect to WiscMail (via browser or other desktop client) to verify that the email has been copied to your account.
  6. You can now safely delete the messages from the iPhone Mail local Inbox.
