WiscMail (Web) - Problems | Bugs | Issues for New Web Client

The WiscMail Team is piloting a new web client for WiscMail and WiscMail Plus users. During this pilot, this page will be used to report new problems and monitor the status of previously identified issues occurring with recommended browsers.

Important: Use the 'I have comments' option below to provide feedback/bugs regarding this client so that we can update this document.

User Advisory

1. Signature appears too large
   • 10/12/2009 - Some pilot users may notice that their signature started appearing very large after a recent update to the new web client. The solution is to make a modification to your signature, which should save the font to the correct size. If this does not fix the problem, please open a Help Desk case.

Outstanding problems/bugs/issues

• Slow load time the first time you load the new web client. The WiscMail team is working on minimizing and optimizing the files that the browser needs to download from the server.
• Preview pane cannot be disabled. The WiscMail team has requested this feature be added by the vendor.
• Message must load within preview pane before it can be opened in a new tab. Otherwise, you may see a blank body.
• When using UW People Search within the Address Book, it will always search across all categories regardless of the one selected within the advanced search dropdown.
• Compatibility issues when using both the Old and New Web Client.
  • Email signatures will show embedded HTML code
  • Vacation message settings are not compatible. Use only the same client to modify vacation message.
  • The WiscMail team will be able to import your old address book into the new web client, but subsequent updates will not be synchronized between the two clients.
• Not accessible for screen readers.
• Simultaneous sessions to multiple accounts not supported
  * hint: use private browsing feature of FF, Safari or Chrome
• No information is given to explain why encrypted messages show no content
• HTML links to anchor tags open new window instead of scrolling to anchor
• Dragging message to the right or down causes interface to scroll off screen.
• It is common for messages that you deleted using a desktop client to appear in the web client as "marked as deleted" (grayed out) until the client expunges the folder
• Does not work with mobile browsers; including the iPhone/iPod Touch
  * hint: most mobile devices have IMAP email clients that will work with WiscMail
• "Get External Mail" feature does not work
• Vacation message does not set the start and end time to the correct time zone
• Right-click and paste may overwrite contents of compose window

Resolved problems/bugs/issues

• Receive 505 error. Fixed: 11/23/2009
• Marking messages as read and unread is buggy. Fixed: 11/19/2009
• When searching from Compose screen, it does not find the correct people. (Workaround is to click the "Plus" button to add recipients to the message). Fixed: 10/23/2009
• Auto-save draft feature is unreliable. Fixed: 10/23/2009
• Unable to save UW People Search result into personal address book. Fixed: 11/17/2009
• Users see errors: "Session Timeout" and "WMAP protocol error, invalid compact WMAP response" Fixed: 10/13/2009
• Logins take a long time. Fixed: 10/14/2009
• Internet Explorer 8 is not yet supported. Fixed: 9/29/2009
• Javascript error when sending mail using IE8. Fixed: 9/29/2009
• Can't attach files when using IE8. Fixed: 9/29/2009
• Unable to compose a message to an address found from UW Whitepages search result. Fixed: 9/29/2009
• Can not search by only the person's last name in UW People Search feature. Fixed: 9/29/2009
• After deleting or moving a message it does not disappear from message listing. Fixed: 9/29/2009
• In some browsers, can not resize the sort column widths (eg:subject,sender) in the message list panel. Fixed: 9/29/2009
• Unable to add recipients from multiple UW search result listings. Fixed: 9/29/2009
