Why does my WiscMail web interface disconnect from the WiscMail server?

• There are two reasons we disconnect idle connections to mail via the web interface. The primary reason is to protect you. If you forget to logout of your mail after checking it in a lab, we will log you out of that session to reduce the risk of another person sending email as you or viewing information important to you.
• The second reason we disconnect idle connections it to free up connections for others. We have a set number of allowable connections. By terminating connections no longer in use we reduce the risk of refusing new connections.

How long do I have until the WiscMail web interface disconnects?

• You have 2 hours to let your connection sit idle. Every time you issue a command to the server your allowed connection time is reset. Example of commands to the server include changing folders, sending mail, checking mail, deleting mail, moving mail, and changing pages. Typing is NOT a command to the server.

Does this idle connection time limit apply to local clients such as Eudora or Outlook?

• No. The idle connection time limit only applies to the web interface.

When I click on the 'Send' button, I recieve an error telling me that my session has timed out. Is the message sent or have I lost all my editing?

• No, the message was not sent. If you clear the error panel, the compose window remains intact (including all contents). Here is what you need to do:
  1. Do not close the compose window.
  2. Open a new browser window and log back into your account.
  3. Select 'Compose'.
  4. Copy/paste from the previous session's compose window to the new session's compose window.
  5. Send this new message.
  6. After successful send, you can close the old compose window.

Why can't I see my old mail in the web client, like I can in Eudora?

• The web client is an interface to the server itself, while a Eudora POP3 connection has downloaded mail from the server onto your Hard Drive.

Can I change my 'Preferred Language' when connected via the web client?

• Currently, English is the only supported language.

Why is the To: column shown in a folder where the From: column should be?

1. Select OPTIONS->SETTINGS->MESSAGES DRAFTS
2. Change Keep Message Drafts in from INBOX to DRAFTS
3. Click on SAVE CHANGES

What is the maximum number of personal address book entries (PAB)?

• 500.
