LastPass - Is it Possible to Change My LastPass Enterprise Account from NetID Login to Master Password Login?

Changing from NetID Login to Master Password Login will be allowed on a case by case basis

If your individual use case would be better served by Master Password Login, you can request a change by completing this web form. Upon completion, a WiscIT incident will be generated for the LastPass team to review. Conversion to Master Password will be granted on a case-by-case basis. Once started, the conversion process may take up to one hour to complete.

Benefits of Master Password Login

  • Ability to create a unique, strong Master Password to protect stored credentials.

    • Policies are enabled within LastPass Enterprise that prevent stored passwords from being the same as your Master Password.

  • MFA-Duo is integrated for further security.

  • Facilitates offline access to stored credentials.

  • Master Password Login is compatible with the LastPass website as well as the LastPass browser extensions and Desktop apps.

  • Self-Service password recovery options are available.

  • Master Password resets are available (for Enterprise accounts only).

Limitations of Master Password Login

  • Master Password resets are only available for your Enterprise account, and only if you’ve previously logged in through the browser extension(s).

    • If you forget your Master Password and you have not logged in through the browser extension(s) and/or you have not set up your self-service Master Password recovery options, you will be permanently locked out of your account. You will be able to reset or delete and recreate your LastPass account; however, resetting or deleting your account will cause the loss of your stored credentials.

    • You can request a Master Password reset through your Wisc Account Administration Page or by contacting the Help Desk to open a WiscIT incident.

  • Master Passwords for LastPass Premium and LastPass Free accounts are only recoverable through the self-service recovery options. If you forget your Master Password and you have not set up your recovery options, you will only be able to reset or delete and recreate your LastPass account. Resetting or deleting your account will cause the loss of your stored credentials.

  • UW–Madison MFA-Duo issued fobs (hard tokens) are not supported.
