Updating a Shared List
After you have created a Shared List, you can continue to add contacts with new uploads or edit the Shared List.
A Shared List is a static list of contacts that you can add to multiple segments. You can find out more about Shared Lists in this Oracle document. You probably created a Shared List when you uploaded your contacts.
Don't forget that any changes you make to a Shared List may impact your Segments or Campaigns. See Eloqua - Adding Shared Lists to Segments for more.

To find an already created Shared List:
You can always find it by going to the main menu and selecting Audience, then Tools > and Shared Lists. Then navigate to your folder. You can rename, copy, move, delete or open lists in this view.
To edit a Shared List
- Navigate to your Shared List following the directions above.
- Right-click the name of any Shared List you want to rename, copy or move.
To delete contacts from or add contacts to a Shared List
- Navigate to your Shared List following the directions above.
- Double-click to open the Shared List you want to change.
- To remove a contact, right-click the person you want to remove from the list and select Remove Contact(s).
- If you do not immediately see the contact(s) you are looking for, use the search bar in the right corner.
- You can select more than one contact by holding the Shift or Ctrl keys while clicking.
- Remember if you have this List connected (not copied) to a Segment, any changes you make will affect the Segment.
- However, this step will not delete the contact from the database.
- To add a contact, while in the Shared List, click the plus sign button. Then use the search bar to find the contact(s) you want to add.
- You can select more than one contact by holding the Shift or Ctrl keys while clicking.
- Remember if you have this List connected (not copied) to a Segment, any changes you make will affect the Segment.
- If you want to add many contacts to this Shared List, consider uploading them. (See next section.)
To upload more contacts to a Shared List
We'll follow the directions in Eloqua - How to upload your contacts into the database with a slight modification at the end:
IMPORTANT: To upload contacts, you must have an Excel document or .csv file with at least the following data, in two separate columns:

- Open Firefox and navigate to login.eloqua.com. Sign into UWMADISON using SSO (your NetID credentials).
- Click the hamburger menu in the upper left corner of the screen. Select Audience and then Contacts.
- On the next screen, click the Upload button.
- You will be taken to the Contact Upload Wizard.
- If you want to name your list, type a title in the Name: field.
- If you will be uploading a file other than an Excel spreadsheet, change the dropdown next to Import Source:.
- Leave Import Purpose: and Presets: alone.
- Click the cloud to upload your contacts file. (Note: If you have a multisheet Excel document, only the first sheet will be imported.)
- In the window that pops up, navigate to where your contacts file is saved and click Open.
- You will be taken to Step 2 of the Contact Upload Wizard, where you will see a preview of your data. Check it over, and if everything looks fine, click Next Step.
- In Step 3 of the Contact Upload Wizard, you will be asked to map your Source Fields (the columns of your contacts file) to the Target Field (fields on the contact records in Eloqua). Eloqua will attempt to match your columns to its fields. Leave Uniquely Match Contacts On: as Email Address.

- In the last step of the Contact Upload Wizard, you will select if you are notified when the upload is complete.
If you want to receive an email when the upload is complete, type your email address in the field under Send Upload Notification To:.
This step is different! - Make sure Place Contacts into a Shared Contact List and Use Existing are both checked.
- Navigate to your existing Shared List.
- Click Finish.
Eloqua will upload your contacts to your desired (already created) Shared List, and you will receive an email from support@eloqua with the subject line, The contacts requested have been successfully uploaded. This email will outline how many contacts were added as new contacts and how many existing contacts were edited.
Don't forget that it may take 15 minutes for the contacts to appear, if they do not already have your Contact Label.
