WRAP Database Freeze - "Abnormal_Factor_Flags_Long/Wide" Table Explanation

This describes the meaning of the fields in the "Abnormal_Factor_Flags_Long" and "Abnormal_Factor_Flags_Long" tables present in the WRAP Data Freeze.

Note:  A value of 1 for a visit in this table means the person met the WRAP team's first definition of 'psychometric MCI' (as described below).
The 'aMCI' and 'naMCI' fields in this table do NOT indicate the presence of clinical amnestic or non-amnestic MCI.
For visit-specific cognitive status information, please consult the WRAP 'ConsensusConference' table.

The 'aMCI' variable is a flag which indicates that the Factor Scores associated with Immediate Memory
and Verbal Language, if both present, fall 1.5 SD below the expected score (based on age, sex, and literacy), as measured by a corresponding calculated
Robust Lower Prediction Limit (rlpl).

Likewise, the 'naMCI' variable is a flag which indicates that the Factor Scores associated with Working Memory
and Speed & Flexibility, if both present, fall 1.5 SD below the expected score (based on age, sex, and literacy), as measured by the corresponding calculated
Robust Lower Prediction Limit (rlpl).

The methods used to create these factor score norms and initial introduction of 'psychometric MCI'
in WRAP are further described in the paper titled
'Emergence of Mild Cognitive Impairment in Late Middle-Aged Adults in the Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer's Prevention', Dementia and Geriatric Disorders, February 14, 2014.
