General - Reservation-Based Seats & Rooms by Application

This KB provides information on the various applications used to reserve equipment and spaces within UW–Madison Libraries including spaces available during the limited availability brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

LibCal

Overview

  • https://wisc.libcal.com/calendar/whsarchives/
  • Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) uses a separate application to allow access to their spaces by the public.
    • This is particularly true for individuals who do not have a Wiscard.

UW–Madison Libraries EMS

Overview

  • https://www.library.wisc.edu/locations/library-study-rooms/
  • UW–Madison Libraries use their Study Room Reservation System to allow patrons to access study rooms and seats within College, Steenbock, and Memorial Libraries.
    • Reservations include a 15-minute buffer before and after each entry to allow for a transition between patrons.

        • Study spaces do not specify a seat within a space, and access is monitored at checkpoints by local staff.
