Shop Safety Inspection Resources

This document provides an overview of general shop safety inspection procedures.

All shops including machine shops, carpentry shops, and maintenance shops in CALS should be inspected on a regular basis by the department responsible for the area. The purpose of the inspection is to ensure that all machines and equipment are functioning properly, safety controls are in-place, and any hazards are identified and controlled. To assist with completing the inspection, a self-inspection checklist template was created. The self-inspection checklist template along with any shop and/or equipment specific inspection requirements should be used to conduct a complete inspection of the shop area. Once the documented inspection is completed, shops should keep a copy of the inspection checklist on file. A copy of the self-inspection checklist is copied below. If you have any questions or need assistance with completing the checklist, contact CALS Safety.
