Nominations for Campus-Based Funding Opportunities

Policy and process for campus funding opportunities and awards that require department nomination.

Some funding opportunities such as the Vilas professorship require a nomination from the department to a campus-based entity such as VCRGE. Nominations, including self-nominations, should be submitted to the ALC Chair at least one month prior to the deadline for the application. The Chair will respond and direct the nominee to submit supporting materials, including any required project statement and their CV, to the Faculty and Staff Committee within two weeks of nomination. FacStaff will review the nomination and make a recommendation to the ALC-EC, which will then vote on confirming the nomination. If multiple individuals are nominated and a ranking of nominees is necessary, FacStaff will make an initial ranking as part of its recommendation to the EC. This policy applies to any competition that requires nominations from the department to some campus-based entity, even if the eventual funding is from a source beyond campus.
