Chair Wolf called the meeting to order at 1:50 pm.
Tracy moved to convene in closed
session pursuant to Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(c)(e) and (f) to discuss issues with competitive
implications, waiver and committee appointments. Seconded. Passed at 1:51 pm.
Tracy moved to convene in open session which was
seconded and passed at 2:15 pm.
Lori Reesor, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs,
reported that over 200 faculty and staff phoned more than 2300 students during
the spike in COVID-19 cases. They will take this concept and apply it more
broadly with campus partners this spring.
Mental health appointments have remained stable at
UW-Madison, though declining at many peer institutions. Students seeking mental
health assistance surveyed this year report that the top four reasons remain
consistent: anxiety, stress, depression and relationships. New this year were
weak attention and concentration. Students are finding it difficult to
establish a rhythm and pattern.
The new gym, the Nicholas Recreation Center (“the Nick”),
has opened at 25% capacity, serving about 2700 people per day. There was a
meeting of the Protest Administrative Review Team (PART). Students feel
intimidated by the outreach from administration when a protest is planned; this
is not the intent, and PART is evaluating.
Tracy moved to convene in closed
session pursuant to Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(e) to discuss issues with competitive
implications. Seconded. Passed at 2:30 pm.
Tracy moved to convene in open session and adjourn, which
was seconded and passed at 3:18 pm.
