Can Continuing Education Learners Receive a 1098-T?

A 1098-T is a tuition statement tax form verifying a credit learner’s payment of tuition. Continuing education, non-credit learners are not issued a 1098-T. These learners participated in what is considered professional development rather than having been enrolled as an academic student in a credit-bearing class. If needed, the Pyle Registrations Office can send a receipt for the professional development class as well as verification of the learner’s continuing education hours.

In rare instances, there may be a participant who is considered a “Special Student” by the University. These students do receive academic credit for professional development courses through the Professional Degrees and Certificates program.
