Ending Employment - Retirement - Planning for Retirement

Employees who are planning to retire should visit the Office of Human Resources Planning for Retirement website and register to attend the appropriate informational session.

1) Review Retirement Information

Employees will find information regarding how to plan for retirement, Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) benefits, Health Insurance and other benefits at retirement, as well as information for beyond retirement (e.g. rehired annuitants).

Are you a UW–Madison employee who might retire within the next 5 years? Learn the process for retiring from UW–Madison—from giving notice, to choosing your pension design, to your insurance options and costs following the end of your employment.

Benefits at Retirement Appointment (< 12 months from retirement)

These optional, 45 minute individual appointments are reserved for UW–Madison employees who plan to retire in the next 12 months.
