Cybersecurity Awareness Training - FAQs

This document answers Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the Cybersecurity Awareness Training.

Why do I have to take the Cybersecurity Awareness Training?

It is required per the UW System Board of Regents (see UW System Administrative Policy 1032 Information Security: Awareness). Cybersecurity Awareness Training is also an important part of keeping data, privacy, and IT systems protected and secure.

When do I need to complete the training?

For 2021, you should complete your cybersecurity awareness training by June 30. However, please feel free to keep playing the game.

How long will it take me to complete the training?

If you choose to do it in one sitting, it should take approximately 25 minutes. If you choose to answer questions each day, it would take you approximately 21 days (at about 1-2 minutes a day).

How will I know when I've completed the training?

Your training is complete when you have agreed to the UW System Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources Policy and answered 20 questions. Two badges will appear when you have done this and show as complete on your dashboard.

My email address isn’t recognized. What do I do?

Use them to log in to the platform to begin your Cybersecurity Awareness Training.

How do I find a past question?

There is a question archive where you can find questions you answered correctly and incorrectly. If you click on one of the questions, you can see your answer and read more about the correct answer when you click on the question mark button below the question.

Will I get the same question more than once?

It is not highly likely that you will get the same identical question again. However, you may get a very similar question.

Can I correct a “wrong answer”?

There is no need to correct a wrong answer. “Wrong Answers” are opportunities to learn. In the future, a similar question may appear, and you’ll then have the opportunity to answer it correctly.

What do I do if I don’t know the answer to a question?

It’s perfectly fine to not know the answer to a question. You can look for the answer online or you can guess. You can learn more about the correct answer in the information that appears after you answer. This will help you know the right answer the next time.

Does everyone get the same questions?

There is a pool of questions that are available to everyone. You will have the same questions but on different days.

If I found something that is broken or an error in the platform, how do I report that?
