Mobile application accessibility and usability barriers
The following information is provided to help people with disabilities know what potential barriers may exist within the MyUHS mobile app.
Screen reader accessibility barriers may impact people who are blind or have low vision
Some functionality may be difficult to use via screen reader. For example, the button to upload COVID-19 vaccination results does not read as a button to screen reader users. In some cases, formatting requirements for completing forms within the app are not read by a screen reader.
Screen reader users may also encounter navigation barriers. It may be difficult to reach content inside of modals because it requires screen reader users to navigate back into the content. Additionally, when navigating with a screen reader users cannot close the hamburger navigation menu.
Color contrast barriers may impact people who have low vision or are colorblind
Some color schemes, such as text and background color in alert messages, are low contrast and may be difficult to read for people who have low vision or are colorblind. Small text on the bottom navigation bar on the Android app may also be difficult to read for some people.
Web application accessibility and usability barriers
The following information is provided to help people with disabilities know what potential barriers may exist within the MyUHS web application.
Keyboard navigation may be difficult for people with visual and motor disabilities
It may be difficult for people navigating via keyboard to browse through the MyUHS web application. Navigation and page organization may be difficult. There are some inaccessible buttons and check boxes.
Screen reader accessibility barrier may impact people who are blind or have low vision
Screen reader users may have difficulty navigating information in the web application. Heading levels are incorrect, missing, empty or skipped. Some labels are not announced by the screen reader, other labels may be incorrect or confusing. Some images lack alt text.
Magnification may be difficult for people with low vision
When magnified at 400%, some elements of the application are overlapping or may require horizontal scrolling to see the full page. Some reflow issues occur as users increase and decrease magnification. At higher magnifications, images begin to pixelate.
Color contrast barriers may impact people who have low vision or are colorblind
Some color schemes, such as text and background color in alert messages, are low contrast and may be difficult to read for people who have low vision or are colorblind. It may be difficult to see messages, alerts, focus indicators, tables, headers, and main text.
