How to Install School of Education EMS
These are the instructions to install EMS on a PC. EMS should be reinstalled after major updates and as a first step of troubleshooting if not functioning properly.
- If previously installed, uninstall any currently installed versions and delete and old files related to EMS from downloads
- Go to URL: https://uwmadison.emscloudservice.com/desktop/
- Click “download”, and install the EMS desktop client (MERIT recommends Firefox for this install, if you are using Chrome see below** for instructions on turning off popups, you need to allow popups, because a site exception will not work)
- Save both the EMSApplication.EXE file and the emswebdeployconfiguration.cfg file to your Downloads folder, Note: These files can be deleted after installation.
- Run the EMSApplication.exe by double clicking on it in the folder Note: The installer will place an icon on your desktop and in the start menu (Windows 10)
- EMSApplication.exe will start a new window stating "EMS will install in a few minutes".
Once the installer is finished, please login with your normal EMS credentials to confirm the installation was successful If you have trouble with any of these steps, please contact the MERIT Help Desk at helpdesk@education.wisc.edu
**Turning on popups in Chrome a. Go to: Settings > Advanced Settings > Privacy > Content Settings > Pop – Ups b. Click the check box next to "Allow all sites to show pop-ups
