Canvas - Known Issue - SCORM packages are not uploading properly

This document describes a known issue in Canvas courses related to uploading new SCORM packages.

When attempting to upload new SCORM packages to Canvas, the packages will not successfully upload. The SCORM package can be previewed by the uploader, but not viewed by end users.

People uploading any SCORM package content (SCORM 1.2 and 2004) to Canvas are impacted. This issue does not impact SCORM content that has already been successfully uploaded to Canvas. This issue only impacts new SCORM package uploads by preventing them from successfully uploading.

This issue is present as of 10/7/2021 and has been reported to the vendor.

SCORM content can be successfully uploaded by using the UW-Madison Canvas "non-vanity" URL:
    1. Type into your browser's address field.
    2. Log on to Canvas as you normally would.
    3. Upload the SCORM package as needed.
Viewers of your uploaded SCORM content can continue to successfully interact with the content with the normal UW-Madison Canvas URL (
