Where to place an asset label on a device
Guidelines for physical location to place an asset label on a device
Note: these are not requirements, but suggestions on where to physically attach asset labels. Some devices or aesthetics may be unique and/or further restrict where an asset label can be placed. The most important factor is that the label is placed in an unobstructed, mostly flat location that doesn't hinder functionality or cover up other identifiers, text, stickers, ventilation, or screw holes.
Laptop Computers
- On the bottom in an unobstructed, mostly flat location that doesn't hinder functionality or cover up other identifiers, text, stickers, ventilation, or screw holes
Desktop Computers
- iMacs: on the rear side, in the lower left-hand corner as you face the display, in an unobstructed, mostly flat location that doesn't hinder functionality or cover up other identifiers, text, stickers, ventilation, or screw holes
- Mac Minis: near the back, on the left-hand side as you face the computer, in an unobstructed, mostly flat location that doesn't hinder functionality or cover up other identifiers, text, stickers, ventilation, or screw holes
- Other tower computers (e.g. Dell tower PCs): on the right-hand side panel as you face the computer, in an unobstructed, mostly flat location that doesn't hinder functionality or cover up other identifiers, text, stickers, ventilation, or screw holes
Monitors/Displays
