Canvas - Recording Your Name Pronunciation [UW-Madison]
This document describes how users can record their names in Canvas.
NameCoach allows you to record your name once and make it available for the instructors and students in all of your courses.
- Inside Canvas, go to Account
- Then click on the NameCoach Recording link that appears in the pop out menu.
- You will then see a dashboard that will allow you to record your name.
- To record your name, click on the Record Name button.
- Note: If you have already recorded your name, and want to change it, you will have to go into a course and then go to the NameCoach Roster link in the left side menu.
- Please remember, this changes the recording for ALL of your courses. So if you need to re-record it, you only need to do it once.
- Verify your information on the window that appears.
- You then have several options to record your name.
- Phone
- This one is set by default. Simply put in your direct phone number and then click Call me now!
- Web Recorder
- This will use the microphone of your device to record your name. To do this change the option to Web Recorder and select Record. When you're done, hit Stop. You can submit your recording when it has finished processing.
- Depending on your setup, the browser might ask permission for the webpage to use your microphone. Click Allow if this pop up appears.
- Uploader
- If you already have made a recording (through some other method) of your name and want to upload it to NameCoach, pick Recorder. It must be in MP3 or WAV format.
- Choose Uploader, then either drag the file to the area, or click Browse for file.
- If you select Browse for file, a new window will appear where you then have to navigate to your file and Open it.
- Once you have made the recording, click the Submit and Finish button.
