Snowflake connection fails in extract due to invalid authorization

This document outlines the steps to take when all of the sudden extracts fail due to Snowflake invalid authorization.

The source of the issue is unknown, but you can take a couple steps to resolve the issue:

  • Login to Tableau server at:
  • On top right hand corner, click on your icon (1 in the image below)
  • From the menu, choose “My Account Settings” (2 in the image below)
  • Make sure you are on the “Settings” tab (3 in the image below)
  • Scroll down until you see “Snowflake” (4 in the image below)
  • Delete the credentials you see (5 in the image below)
  • After deleting, we want to re-add it. Click “Add” (6 in the image below)
  • Just go through the SSO to add it
  • Run the extract refresh and see if it runs error-free
