Requirements for All UW-Madison Course Offerings
A list of all the requirements for a course at UW-Madison, such as a syllabus, course learning outcomes, a qualified instructor, etc.
At a minimum, each course offered at UW-Madison must:
- have a syllabus
- have learning outcomes
- have a qualified instructor
- follow the credit hour policy
- have content that is appropriate for and aligned with the title, level and course description regardless of mode of instruction
- have requisites that are enforceable (if any)
- meet the requirements associated with any attribute attached to the course (e.g. Comm-B, Ethnic Studies, Grad Attribute, Breadth etc.)
- follow the approved grading scheme
- have a plan for instructional times; the instructor must meet the instructional commitments for the course
- meet standards for verifying identity of students; requirements met by use of the standard Learning Management System for other than face-to-face instruction
- communicate how the course will be delivered using the “instructional mode” feature; use standard “class notes” when appropriate
