AT&T IP-Flex Service Setup
Overview of IPFlex setup steps:
  1. Select subnets to be used for IPFlex service:
    i. Select 2 point to point subnets AT&T will use in their cloud for the IP Flex service.  These can be rfc1918 space.  They must not overlap with existing subnets in use.
    ii. Select as many subnets required for your SBC's.  i.e. 2 /29's.  These can be rfc1918 space.  They must not overlap with existing subnets in use.
    iii. Select 2 point to point subnets that will be used for a BGP hand off between UW System and your institution.    These can be rfc1918 space.  They must not overlap with existing subnets in use.

  2. Setup BGP peering for IP Flex w/ UW Sysnet prior to TTU.  Configure any ingress/egress filters you may need.

  3. Fill out IPFlex BadgerNet Service Request Template and submit it.  
  4. Order Process after request is received.
    1. Once Approved the AT&T/Nordicom Technical Sales Team will:
      1. Place order to add a VPN to the BadgerNet AVPN circuits
      2. Place order to add IP Flexible Reach to the AVPN VPN above on the requesting UW 4 year institutions plan number.
        1. UW 4 Year University will be moving TNs after TTU.  We recommend that no more than 6 concurrent calls be ordered per SIP connection to minimize billing impact.
      1. Forward the order notification to Jed Dolske at AT&T and the Nordicom Project Manager Dylan Williky
      2. This process typically takes 10 - 15 business days
    1. The IP Flexible Reach order team will send notification to the subscriber to confirm the order details. For all IPFR on Badgernet orders the address will be shown as 826 W Michigan St, Milwaukee, WI 53233 or 315 W Mifflin St, Madison, WI 53703.  Please fill out the information below and send back to us.
      1. Local Contacts -
      2. PBX Type either TDM or IP PBX -
      3. Number of Concurrent Calls – 12 (6 on each trunk/SIP connection)
      4. Current or new dial plan ID – current UW 4 Year University dial plan number
      5. Please choose the Network Outbound Blocking Options for your entire site:
        1. International Operator (01)
        2. Direct Dialed International (011)
        3. Directory Assistance (411)
        4. Long Distance Directory Assistance (NPA-555-1212)
        5. Operator (0-, 0+, 00-, 00++)
        6. No blocking – Allow all the above calls (Default setting)
      1. Digits sent from AT&T for local calls -
      2. Collect and 3rd Party billing treatment -
      3. Requested Calling Name display -
      4. All telephone numbers will move from old circuit to new.  Dylan and Jed will gather this list of TNs for the move.  
    1. Once the order is released an order confirmation e-mail will be sent in about 5 days with order details such as the assigned IP addressing, dial plan ID, testing telephone numbers and the AT&T IP Border Elements to be configured on the subscribers equipment.
    2. The subscriber will receive an invitation to Business Center and the Enhanced Features portal on Premier.
      1. Subscriber will use the provided information to configure their equipment.
      2. Subscriber will by assigned a port on the Badgernet NTE to connect their session border controller (AKA Border Gateway, voice gateway or SIParator).
    1. The Project Manager will coordinate test and turn up schedules between the AT&T Order Status Manager and the customer.  The LCM team and reserving engineer resources takes roughly 10 days. TTUs are scheduled in two hour blocks allowing sufficient time for troubleshooting or reconfiguration of typical problems encountered during the TTU.
      1. Once agreed to PM will notify sales team to submit CR Web for configuration and support work.
    1. The Sales Team will submit a request to the LCM Team to:
      1. Configure the AVPN connection(s)
      2. Configure a new port on the Badgernet NTE for voice
      3. Specify the design. Typical is using VRRP failover between Madison and Milwaukee core routers but sites on 3rd party circuits may require more complex design.
      4. Request either LCM or DTAC Engineer for TTU
    1. Prior to the TTU it is recommended that the subscriber execute a trace route from the SBC to the assigned IP Border Elements. The IP Border Elements will not respond, but they should see responses from the assigned default gateway and the AVPN Provider Edge Router subnet provided in the order confirmation letter. This confirms that the customer and Badgernet configuration is complete and ready for a successful TTU.
    2. During the TTU the TTU Engineer will verify the following:
      1. Verify SIP sessions been established between the AT&T IP Border Elements and the customer equipment?
      2. Verify the test telephone numbers have been configured on the PBX and assigned to phones for testing.
      3. Verify all type of inbound and outbound calls, local, long distance, international, etc. Blocked call types are skipped.
      4. Once everything has been tested satisfactorily the service is considered delivered.
    1. If required, order is submitted to increase the concurrent call count.
    2. After TTU the telephone number move process is initiated.
    3. UW 4 Year University sends AT&T a confirmation email to disconnect the old PNT circuits
  1. We will schedule a maintenance window later in 2023 to redirect the traffic to the new State of Wisconsin DOA/WAN contract.
