CLOUD - Boilerplate Language for Grants using REDCap

The University of Wisconsin (UW) School of Medicine and Public Health's (SMPH) Informatics and Information Technology (IIT) department supports an integrated suite of tools for the electronic collection and management of research and clinical trials data. REDCap is used for electronic data collection projects by defining study-specific data dictionaries which are created by study teams in consultation with dedicated REDCap Informatics staff to ensure high quality data collection using data validation rules and standardized data collection forms. REDCap includes a survey tool to collect data directly from study participants. These surveys are delivered over a secure, web-based intuitive user interface. REDCap also offers easy data manipulation with audit trails and reporting, monitoring and querying participant records, and an automated export mechanism to common statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R/S-Plus).

REDCap is deployed within a secure, HIPAA compliant, cloud-based environment. This environment provides high availability, automated platform maintenance and patching, and threat protection from a web application firewall. All traffic is encrypted and all data are encrypted at rest. Data and files are replicated and backed up on locally-redundant storage. All study team members are provided access using Single Sign-On (SSO) with multi-factor authentication.

CURRENT: Boilerplate Language for Grant & IRB Protocols using REDCap

The University of Wisconsin (UW) School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap), originally developed by Vanderbilt University, is a self-managed, secure, web-based platform designed to support data collection and data management for research, operations support, and quality improvement projects. REDCap's easy-to-use, intuitive features allow users to rapidly build and manage secure online surveys and databases.

SMPH REDCap is available to University of Wisconsin staff and their collaborators as a result of its partnership in the REDCap Consortium.
