Printing (macOS) - Adding a Copy Code for a Canon Copier

Follow these steps to save a Department ID, or copy code, for a Canon copier.
  1. Open System Settings (macOS 13 and later) or System Preferences (macOS 12 and earlier).
  2. Select Printers & Scanners.
  3. Select the Canon copier.

If you do not see the copier in your list of printers, see Printing (macOS) - Mapping a Departmental Printer for steps to connect.

  4. Click Options & Supplies...
  5. Go to the Utility tab and click Open Printer Utility.

If you do not see the Utility tab, contact Technical Support for assistance.

  6. Click Printer Information. If you are prompted to allow finding devices on local networks, click Allow.
  7. Once you see the Printer Information popup, click OK to close it.
  8. In the "User Management" dropdown, select Department ID Management OR check the Use Department ID Management checkbox, whichever option is available to you.
  9. Enter your copy code into the "Department ID" field. In most cases, you should leave the "PIN" blank.
  10. Click Save Settings.

Consider sending a print job to the copier to test that you can print without being prompted for a code. Or, if your department uses secure print, follow the steps in Printing (macOS) - Configuring Secure Print on a Canon Copier to configure that feature.
