Contingency Verifications for Faculty & Staff Hires

This KB includes background on loan contingency requests for our newly hired faculty and staff, including a template to utilize when asked to provide updates on the contingencies.

Our HR team is asked at times to verify the status of a variety of contingencies laid out in an offer letter for a newly hired faculty or staff member. These requests usually come from a mortgage company or lender directly to HR or to a department contact. If you or your department receive a request, please utilize the contingency verification letter template below.

If utilizing the template for a staff hire request, remove items that are not applicable to the given situation.

Who should complete these requests?

  • The letter can be completed and signed by a department contact or by someone within HR (HR Business Partner, Faculty Recruiter, or HR Operations Coordinator). Each HR team should determine who will complete the request for the department(s) they support
  • Since there are contingencies that intersect with a variety of roles, it’s important to collaborate with others to gather updates on each contingency to include in the letter
