The Learning Engineering Group offers the following services to noncredit developer partners. The Pedagogic Consultation services are a la carte, while the Online Course Development includes all of the services listed.

Media Only Services

Pre-SME Conversation

Goal: Help noncredit course developers define the Learning Experience and parameters in advance of a conversation with a subject matter expert (SME) regarding MOU.

  • Typically 15-20 minutes in duration
  • Exploratory

Pre-Development Consultation

Goal: Help the noncredit course developer envision the online Learning Experience at a high level.

  • Typically 30-45 minutes in duration
  • A more in-depth conversation about the specific Learning Experience being developed
  • May share or work through a Learning Experience development template

Intake Meeting

Goal: Completion of the project charter and pre-course map.

  • Typically 45-60 minutes in duration
  • Determine the scope and scale of the project request
  • Define any risks and barriers to successful completion

Discovery Meeting

Goal: Mutual understanding and agreement about the scope of Learning Engineering work to be done on the course.

  • Typically 45-60 minutes in duration
  • Share information with the assigned learning engineer regarding the scope of the course that is about to enter the online course building process

Option 1: Course Consult and Build Services

Goal: A fully functional online learning experience that has been through a quality control process.

  • Typically a 3-month build timeline that can include several meetings with the noncredit course developer, the subject matter expert, or both
  • Includes ongoing pedagogic consultation and media work
  • Collaboration on building the noncredit course in the appropriate LMS (e.g. Canvas, edX)

Option 2: Course Consult

Goal: Pedagogic consultation for a learning experience that is built by someone outside the Learning Engineering Group.

  • Highly variable timeline, negotiated during the Discovery Meeting. Could range from 1 to 3 months. Can include several meetings with the noncredit course developer, the subject matter expert, or both.
  • May include media consultation
  • Collaboration on the pedagogic design of a learning experience

Option 3: Media Only

Goal: Produce high-quality media for use within a larger project that may not involve LEG.

  • Highly variable timeline, negotiated during the Discovery Meeting. Could range from 1 to 3 months
  • Requires intake meeting
  • May require discovery meeting at the discretion of the Learning Engineering Group

Post-Run Review

Goal: Help the noncredit course developer or Learner Experience Team review the data from the Learning Experience and define future modifications or revisions.

  • Typically 30-45 minutes in duration
  • A data-driven conversation about the specific Learning Experience
  • Will make use of Learner Analytics and survey data
