How to pack the kit

1. Power off the light fixture

   

2. Unplug the AC adapter from the light fixture

   

3. Gel kit: 

   1. Carefully take off the gels from the light fixture

   2. Slide them in the yellow envelope 

      

   3. Clip the 6 clothespin onto the yellow envelope

      

4. Take the light fixture off the stand

5. Fold in side barn doors first, top and button second (the Dracast logo should be visible)

   

6. Loosen the side blue knobs to flip the bracket onto the other side (the space between the bracket and the light fixture should be minimal)

   

   

7. Light fixture case: 

   1. Put the light fixture back into its respective case

   2. Tightly and neatly wrap up the AC adapters and power cord with the velcro (the two should be separated/unplugged from each other)

   3. Put 1 AC adapter and power cord in to each light fixture case

      

8. Light stands:

   1. Make the stands as low as possible

      

   2. Lock the leg knobs, loosen the middle body knob

   3. Grab a leg and pull the legs up – the legs should flip upside down 

      

   4. Lock the body knob

   5. Put each stand into one case 

      

9. Neatly wrap up the extension cord with the velcro

   

10.  Put in the gel kit and 3 light cases vertically in one of the half of the light kit case 

    

11.  Put in the extension cord and 3 light stand cases in the other half of the light kit case

    

12.  Zip up the entire case and attach the two handles together 

    

How to set up the light fixture

1. Take the lighting fixture and two cords out of the case 

   

2. Take the light stand out of the case and push the legs down to extend them

   

3. Make sure that the legs are wide enough apart to ensure a secure base

   

4. To make the stand taller, start from the top knob and work your way down each knob, extending as many as you need (be sure not to extend any higher than 6ft)

   

5. Screw the lighting fixture into top of the stand using the knob

   

6. Open the four barn doors

   

7. Power on the light fixture using one of the options below (make any group partners or people around aware before you turn on the light)

How to power the light fixture

AC Power

1. Plug the power cord into the AC adapter.

   

2. Plug the opposite end of the power cord into an outlet 

   

3. Plug the AC adapter cord into the light fixture

   

4. Turn on the lighting fixture using the switch next to the plug

5. The side of the switch labeled “--” controls the adapter power

   

Sony Battery

1. Slide both batteries onto the battery sled located above the power cord plug

2. Pay attention that the arrows are facing the correct direction

3. Turn on the lighting fixture using the switch next to the plug

4. The side of the switch labeled “=” controls the battery power

How to change intensity

1. Intensity (brightness) is controlled by a dial on the far left of the power switch, labeled “daylight”

   

2. Turn the dial to the far left for least intensity, and turn it to the far right for the most intensity

   

   

How to change color temperature

1. Color temperature is controlled by a dial to the right of the intensity/daylight dial, labeled “tungsten”

   

2. Turn the dial all the way to the left for the most warm (yellow) lighting, or all the way to the right for the most cool (white) lighting

   

   

3. Anywhere in between these two extremes will be a mix of warm and cool light bulbs, at varying intensities (left half more warm, right half more cool)

   

How to add diffusion (gel)

1. Remove a diffusion paper (gel) from the yellow folder provided in the kit

   

2. Using four clothespins, clip each end of the gel to the edges of each barn door 

   

Safety tips

1. Tape cords down flat to the floor using electrical tape to ensure no one trips over them

2. Ensure stand has a wide enough base

3. Don’t unplug the cord before turning off the power

Troubleshooting

• The stand does not lock and the knob no longer turns (is stuck):

  1. Turn the knob clock-wise (righty - tighty, lefty - loosey!)

• Light won't power on:

  1. Verify you have pressed the power button in the correct direction (top is powering with sony battery, bottom is powering with AC power)

  2. Plug light directly into wall outlet (bypass extension cords)

  3. Try another device (ex. lamp, phone charger) in the same wall outlet to check if the issue is from the outlet itself
