OnCore User's Guide: Search the OnCore Charge Master
To search the Charge Master
- Navigate to Financials and click Charge Master
- Click on Search Events
3. Enter the Search parameters:
a. Event/Item Code is the standardized CPT code (e.g., 5-digits)
b. Event/Item Description is the name of the procedure event or item
c. Cost Center is the location where the procedure could occur

9995 | UW Hospital and Clinics (UWHC) |
9996 | UW Medical Foundation (UWMF) or Professional Fees |
9994 | WIMR |
9401 | Clinical Research Unit (CRU) |
d. CDM Code is the billing code assigned by the cost center. UWHC billing codes are typically prefixed as 'HB' + the CPT.
4. Review the results and select the appropriate procedure. Click the procedure description hyperlink to view the associated cost centers and research rates.
5. The retail and research rates will display in a table format for each applicable cost center to be used for budget or grant development.
a. The Cost Center column identifies the location this procedure is conducted. Refer to the above table to link the assigned code to the UW Health or UW-Madison facilities.
b. CDM Code is the billing code used by the cost center. These numbers will also display on the billing slips used to route subject incurred charges to the appropriate accounts (e.g., research account or participant insurance/out of pocket).
c. Charge Retail is the fair market value of the procedure.
d. Charge IND / Tier 1 is the industry-sponsored research rate.
e. Charge FED / Tier 3 is the non-industry research rate.
