Secure Box - Uploading SSN Card

This page provides instructions for adding or updating your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) by using the UW Secure Box Folder.

Overview

To provide an SSN or ITIN, please submit a scan or photo of your Social Security card to the following UW Secure Box Folder.

Secure Box is a secure storage solution the Office of the Registrar, in collaboration with the Office of Cybersecurity, uses to safely store and access files. Your submission will only be viewed internally by Office of the Registrar staff and will be deleted upon completion of the request.

Step 1

Open the Secure Box Link.

  • A new tab will open the page pictured below.

Step 2

Press "Select Files."

Step 3

Find and attach your scanned/photographed copy of your Social Security card.

  • Once attached, your document will appear in the "Upload Files" space.

Step 4

Enter your email address and press submit.

  • Current students, please use your @wisc.edu email address.

Step 5

You will be redirected to a new page that confirms your submission.

Step 6

You will receive an email from the Office of the Registrar when your SSN is successfully updated in your University Student Records.
