Lori Reesor, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, discussed the situation with the Mecha and ISC homes that are near the construction area for Levy Hall. They are taking this opportunity to look at the broader picture of student cultural centers and create some guidelines/policies around them.

Provost Karl Scholz reported that the Board of Regents meeting went well. It included the announcement by Chancellor Mnookin of Bucky’s Pell Pathway, which will cover the full cost of attendance for Wisconsin Pell recipients for four years. The Leadership Breakfast this week will include attendees discussing ideas on 5 topics: flourishing for students and employees; free speech/belonging; sustainability; next generation faculty hiring; and opportunities for the research enterprise.

Adrian Treves on the Teaching Academy Board talked with the UC about revitalizing the connection between the teaching academy and the faculty senate. The Teaching Academy was created in 1994 by the Faculty Senate. It currently has over 300 members, and they hold a series of events each year to build a community of instructors. They also hold two retreats each year. They are independent of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Mentoring except for their budget. As a start to reconnecting the Teaching Academy with faculty governance, the UC agreed to have the Teaching Academy report at the Faculty Senate this spring.

Papp adjourned the meeting at 3:14.
