Using the Multi-Purpose Room Sound System

The Sound System in the MPR

Using the Multi-Purpose Room Sound System

  1. Check that both amplifiers are turned on (do NOT turn these off after your reservation is over).  The on/off switch is on the bottom, left side of the sound system.

  2. To use the cd player or an iPhone/iPod, make sure the top light (for “program”) is lit on the volume control panel.  If the second light is on, you can toggle to program by pressing the volume button.

    1. Plug the AV cord into the AV Aux jack of the sound system, and the headphone jack of your iPhone/iPod.  The AV cord is available to check out at the 3rd floor reception desk with an ID.  Remember to return it after your reservation!

    2. If you are using the cd player, make sure it is turned on.

DO NOT MOVE THE SOUND SYSTEM!!

Moving or turning the system may cause connections to loosen and speaker malfunction.

DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS ON THE AMPLIFIERS!!

This will create distortion or loss of sound in the speakers.

We have had repeated problems with groups changing settings and breaking the sound system this year.  This is causing problems for other organizations when they use the room as well as expensive repairs.

If we find your organization changing any settings on the sound system, you will lose your reservation privileges for this year.  If the sound system does not meet your needs as-is, please bring your own boom box or portable speakers.

Please be careful when plugging into the AV Aux jack as it is currently loose and may break off. If you have issues before it is repaired, plug the cord in about half way- the connection should be better.
