Admission Cycle: Closing Processes in Applicant Review (Fall 2024 and earlier)
Closing out G00-Available for Recommendation applications at the end of the admissions cycle
Ten days prior to the beginning of a term, any remaining applicants with only a G00-Available for Recommendation code will be closed out by applying a G90-Department Refusal code. The following message will appear in applicants’ Graduate School application portal:

Why not apply a G57 or G58 code instead?
It is important for data integrity that applicants who are denied admission are reported as such. Additionally, G57-Graduate School Withdrawal and G58-Department Withdrawal codes do not provide clear language that the applicant has been denied admission. Instead, applicants are confused why their applications were “withdrawn” as the G57 and G58 messages imply (see below).
