Noland and Birge Copier Instructions
Department of Integrative Biology Employees: Instructions for installing the Noland and Birge Copiers.
**Please follow each step closely to choose the correct settings, or you will not be able to use the copiers.**

Windows
- Close any programs and save documents, as you will need to restart your computer in a later step.
- Download the driver folder from the following link: https://uwmadison.box.com/s/ygeneaule1f9h83o0y0w2m0yi41ue1xz
- Extract/unzip the folder on your computer.
- Run the "Setup" application located in the folder.
- You will see the following:
- Click next.
- Click Yes to agree to the license agreement.
- You will see the following screen:
- Click Custom and Next.
- You will see the following screen:
- Click Next.
- You will see the following screen:
- Make sure it is set on Auto Select, then click Next.
- You will see the following screen:
- Click Add Port and select Standard TCP/IP Port:
- Click OK and the following screen will come up:
- Click Next.
- On the following screen, enter the IP address of the copier you want to connect to under Printer Name or IP Address.
Noland: 144.92.29.126
Birge: 144.92.58.185 - Click Next.
- On the following screen, click Finish: (The device should be the same as the IP for the copier you are installing)
- Back on the following screen, give the printer a name you will remember for the copier:
- Click Next.
- On the following screen, click Start:
- You will then restart your computer:
- Then, try to print a test page to the copier, the following should show up:
- Enter your copier code into the Department ID section, and leave the PIN blank.
- Click OK, and your document should print to the copier!
Mac
- Open System Settings and scroll down to Printers and Scanners:
- Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax.
- You will see the following screen:
- Click the middle "globe" at the top of the window, so you see the following screen:
- Enter the IP Address of the copier you are installing into Address:

Birge: 144.92.58.185 - Ensure the Protocol is set to "AirPrint".
- Click on Choose a Driver. You will see the following menu:
- Click Select Software
- For the Noland Copier: Choose the Canon iR-ADV C5860/5870 driver:
For the Birge Copier: Choose the Canon iR-ADV C5550/5560 driver: - Click OK
- Click Add
- The printer will then show up as it's IP address:
- Click on the printer, you will see the following screen:
- Click Options & Supplies. You will see the following screen:
- Under General, feel free to give the copier a name you will remember, such as "Noland Copier" like above.
- Click Options. You will see this screen:
- Ensure that "Department ID Management" is checked.
- Click Utility. You will see this screen:
- Click Open Printer Utility, you will see this screen:
- Under Authentication Function, select Department ID Management for User Management.
- Enter your copier code under Department ID. Leave the PIN blank.
- Click Save Settings and close the window.
- Click OK.
- Now, try to print to the copier, since you input your Department ID in settings, it should print right away!
Linux
The following instructions were created using Ubuntu, if you are using a different Linux flavor and these do not work, please reach out to Cole Christophel(cole.christophel@wisc.edu)

- Open the folder and you will see the following:
- The steps after this were done on a 64 bit system, please use the driver that fits your system the best.
- Open the x64 folder:
- Since this is on Ubuntu, we will be using the Debian folder:
- Double click the package, you will see the following screen:
- Install the package.
- You will see two programs added "Canon Printer Setup Utility 2" and "Canon UFR II/UFRII LT Printer Setting Utility":
- Open the Canon Printer Setup Utility 2. You will see the following:
- Select socket, and then enter the IP Address of the copier you would like to setup:
Noland: 144.92.29.126
Birge: 144.92.58.185 - Select the appropriate driver for the copier you are adding:
Noland: Canon iR ADV C5860/C5870 UFR II
Birge: Canon iR-ADV C5550/C5560 UFR II - This will add the copier as a printer in your settings.
- Go to settings, and rename the copier to a more friendly name:
- Open terminal, and execute the following code: "sudo cnjatool2 -e [printer name]" example below:
- Open the Canon UFR II/UFRII LT Printer Setting Utility
- You will see the following screen:
- Click Properties, you will see the following:
- Set the Page Size to Letter(It defaults to A4, which will result in an error on when you attempt to print).
- Click OK
- Click Save Settings, this will then prompt for ID/PIN Settings. Set the ID to your copier code, and leave the PIN blank.
- Click OK.
- Print a test page to the copier, and it should now be fully setup for use.
