Van Hise 1312, Madsen Reading Room, AV Design Overview and Troubleshooting
History:
The Madsen Reading Room is primarily used by the Nordic unit within GNS+.
The original AV solution was designed, installed and supported by AVI Systems approximately in 2015. However, the support contract with AVI Systems expired years ago and the TechZone supports this space now.
AV Changes in 2023:
As designed the room has a wall-mounted display that users can connect to via an HDMI cable. We added an adapter ring to the HDMI cable so that users could connect via USB-C, too.
- We removed the VGA + Aux cable option during the 2023 updates.
We installed a multi-region BluRay player so that users could play international media. Instructions to switch the Region as needed are mounted in the cabinet and available here.
We added a Jabra PanaCast 50 videoconferencing bar to support hybrid meetings. Users can connect to the videoconferencing bar via the USB cable.
We resolved an issue so that audio playback can be heard through the ceiling speakers.
We removed old hardware that was designed to allow users to connect wirelessly to the TV, but was no longer compatible with current computers or operating systems.
Summary:
Despite the AV changes made in 2023, the room functions largely in the same way it had been in years prior.
- Users plug their laptop into the HDMI cable to share their content on the display
- Users can play BluRay and DVD's with the new BluRay Player
In addition, users can now hold hybrid meetings in the room by connecting to the HDMI and USB cables, and using the Jabra PanaCast 50.
More detailed instructions and troubleshooting information room can be found here in this guide.
Internal Notes:
