Academic Affairs Hiring and Onboarding

The hiring process includes identifying and defining the hiring need, recruiting and selecting the right person, and onboarding that person and setting them up for success. This can be fairly simple when replacing someone in an existing position, or this could be part of a strategic organizational change. The steps and tools provided will support a hiring manager through this process.

Planning and Approvals

As the initial step of the hiring process, the hiring manager will work with human resources to clearly identify the hiring need. Whether you are filling a newly opened position or you are expanding your staff to fulfill a strategic initiative, a clear statement of hiring need will guide your recruitment decisions and, if necessary, help demonstrate the need to decision-makers. Click the Planning and Approvals button to view the flow chart and start the process.

Recruitment and SelectionOnboarding

The Recruitment and Selection and Onboarding documentation is still under development; in the meantime contact Beth Miller and your financial leader (Elizabeth Tuschen for MSES; Kim Fons for MGCS, MPH, MPAS, DPT; Shane Rodgers for OMA-HPL; or Sherryl Pertzborn for any other acronym) for assistance.
