Installing KeyOrganizer for Front Desk Employees

This document describes how to install KeyOrganizer for Front Desk employees and connect to the database.

Install KeyOrganizer

  1. Download KeyOrganizer from KeyOrganizer.org (direct download)
  2. Run KeyOrganizer.exe from the Downloads folder
  3. Open File > Install Program...
    Install Program
  4. To install KeyOrganizer for all users, click into "Program Files" to set the installation path

  5. Click OK
  6. When KeyOrganizer launches, pin it to the task bar for easy access
  7. Delete the .exe file from the Downloads folder; avoids confusion with downloaded application when using Windows search

Connect to the Database

  1. Make sure the Biochemistry File Server is mounted (see Shared Drive - Mounting a Drive)
  2. Open KeyOrganizer
  3. Open File > Select Database...
    Connect Database
  4. Open Office\OfficeStaff\Front_Desk\Keys and Wiscard\Keys\Data.ada (Data.ada is the database file)
    Note: Do not download a local copy of this file; KeyOrganizer must reference the version on the file server to ensure all users see updates
  5. If the database loaded correctly, you should now see a dropdown list of users
