CHM IT - Kennedy Psychophys Suite
Details on the Kennedy Psychophys Room
The Kennedy Pychophys suite consists of rooms 164 and 168.
Room 164 is the experimenter room, and contains the PCs used for stimulus presentation / session control and for BIOPAC physiological data collection. It is also home base for the "wireless" BIOPAC BioNomadix on the TSST Cart.
Room 168 is the participant room. It contains a table with the participant stimulus monitor, speakers, and headphones on it. A cabinet to the right of the table houses the "wired" BIOPAC MP160 and amps plus related instrumentation. Two additional cabinets house study-specific equipment and supplies.
Airbourne Stimulus PC
Video
- 2 ASUS VG248QE 3D 144Hz 1920x1080 monitors, driven in parallel by a
- NVIDIA GeForce GTZ 1060 GPU w/ 6 GB RAM
- Default video mode is 1920 x 1080 @ 144 Hz.
- Use of other / older modes (for example, 800 x 600 @ 60 Hz) is discouraged. Please adapt your scripts to support this setup.
Hardware we needed to install on Airbourne
- The usual USB hasps for E-Prime 2 and 3 (these are mounted internally in the case)
- StarTech parallel port, which connects to the BIOPAC STP100C
- A USB->Ethernet adapter which connects to the Behringer X-Air XR18 digital mixer / signal processor.
- 2 x USB keyboard, 2 x USB mouse, one set connected directly to front of PC, other set in psychophys room connected (directly, no hubs!) via USB extension cables
Software we needed to install on Airbourne
- See Software we needed to install on Caffeine
- We had to install all the same software, drivers, shims, etc. on Airbourne, everything but the VPixx projector utilities and DisplayFusion.
- Plus the usual suspects: E-Prime (and license / USB hasp), plus PsychoPy.
- And the X-Air "Edit" app and driver (search for product XR18) from the Behringer downloads page.
- Since the "Edit" app is a standalone .EXE file that doesn't need to be installed, it was put into C:\X-Air\ and a symbolic link to it was created in C:\Users\Public\Desktop\ so it shows up on all users' desktops.
- The app won't know to connect to the X-Air the first time you run it, but will default to it after that.
Oct. 2022 Transition to CHM Environment
- Ty configured an instrumentation machine group that auto-installed E-Prime and PsychoPy along with other necessary things
- AcqKnowledge manually installed on the BIOPAC machine and TSST cart machine
- Airbourne tweaks:
- Manually installed PsychoPy v1.85.4 for SCIM
- Manually installed latest NVidia drivers (Studio version, no GeForce Experience crap)
- Manually installed X-Air to C:\My Experiments
- Manually installed Startech PCIe parallel & serial drivers
- Copied 32bit and 64bit spooky parallel driver stuff from InpOut32 to:
- \Windows\system32
- \Windows\SysWow64
- \Program Files(x86)\PsychoPy
- \Program Files(x86)\PsychoPy\DLLs
- Installed Arduino IDE and launched it, signing in as admin for all the driver installs
