Campus Active Directory - What to expect when migrating your device with the CADS team

An overview of what a migration looks like for an end user when migrating them with Binary Tree
  • Preparation: Please restart your computer no later than one hour to the migration time. This is the first step in the process and is critical. The entire process can fail If there are outstanding updates that result in computer restart delays. Performing a restart will ensure a clean restart process.

  • Connect to your department VPN

  • At the prearranged time, we will deploy the Cutover Credentials tool which will require you to login to Campus AD using your NetID credentials (AD\NetID, see screen shot, VPN Required).

    • After entering your credentials, press Submit. If successful the pop-up will disappear. The final migration operations will run in the background. This can take up to 15 minutes. Please be patient.
    • When the final migration operations complete, you should see a new pop-up letting you know your workstation is about to shutdown. Please see below:

  • After the initial NetID login, restart your computer again and login a second time with your NetID.
    • If you cannot logon post restart, please try adding ad\ in front of your NetID for login. i.e., ad\NetID.
  • Please reconnect VPN post migration/restart and stay connected the rest of the day to allow background processes to complete. If you are on campus, and on a wired connection, you can skip this step.
