InterPro - Teaching & Learning - Tools & Technology - Zoom - Surveys (Poll Library) - Add Content
Description
Zoom Surveys is a library space used to create, store, and manage not only Zoom surveys, but also Zoom polls and quizzes. Creating these items within Zoom eliminates the need for external polling and survey tools during Zoom meetings.
- Previously, Zoom polls and quizzes were created for and were accessible in a specific meeting only (unless added to Zoom's poll library and selected for use across a host's meetings).
- Now, all Zoom polls, quizzes, and surveys can be created and stored within the same library (called Zoom Surveys), regardless of which meeting they are intended for.
Important notes:
-
- This change makes all of a host's Zoom polls and quizzes created in Surveys available for use in all of their scheduled meetings. See How to Create a Poll or Quiz in the Surveys Library.
- Polls and quizzes may be filtered so that only those required for a specific meeting are visible during the meeting. See How to Filter Meeting Polls and Quizzes.
- Polls and quizzes can still be created within a meeting. These polls and quizzes are available only for that meeting. See How to Create a Meeting Poll/Quiz.
- How Zoom polls and quizzes are launched in a meeting has not changed.
- A strong, consistent naming convention is highly recommended to aid in locating the desired polls/quizzes in the Surveys library and during a Zoom meeting.
- This change makes all of a host's Zoom polls and quizzes created in Surveys available for use in all of their scheduled meetings. See How to Create a Poll or Quiz in the Surveys Library.
Access
Sign in to your account through the Zoom web portal.

How to Create a Poll or Quiz in the Surveys Library
The advantage of creating a poll or quiz in the Surveys library is it will be available for launch (use) in any of the Zoom host's meetings.
After accessing Surveys, click the + Create button.
Select Poll or quiz and click Create.
Complete the steps shown in the image and described below as applicable.
- Give the poll a unique, identifiable title. Because all of a host's polls and quizzes are stored in Surveys, it is important to have an effective naming convention. Consider including Course#:Session or Day#:Question# (e.g. C123:S1:Q1) in the title.
- Choose the question type. Question types include: single choice, multiple choice, matching, rank order, short answer, long answer, fill in the blank, and a rating scale.
- Type your poll question.
Note: Zoom polls and quizzes typically contain one question. However, additional questions could be added by clicking + Add Question, found below the question editor. - Add response choices.
- Click + Add Choice to create additional response choices.
- Select whether you would like the question to be required, to show response choices as a dropdown menu, or if you would like to create breakout rooms based on participant responses.
Note: To create breakout rooms based on participant responses, "Allow host to create breakout rooms from poll results" must be enabled in Settings > Meeting > In Meeting (Basic). - Use the toggle switch to turn your poll into a quiz with a correct answer. To set the correct answer for a quiz, click Please set answer, choose the correct response(s) and click Done.
- Click the gear icon for the option to require anonymous answers.
- Upload an image for the question.
- Click the ellipsis in the bottom right corner to duplicate or delete a question.
Note: Polls and quizzes can also be deleted from the Surveys library or while in a meeting. - Preview the poll.
- Click Save to save the poll/quiz or click the ellipsis next to the Save button to save as a draft. Draft polls appear in the Surveys library as shown in the example below. Draft polls and quizzes are not available for launch in meetings.
How to Filter Meeting Polls & Quizzes
All polls and quizzes created in the Surveys library are available in all of a Zoom host's meetings.

Now only the polls and quizzes selected (filtered) from the Surveys library will be available in the meeting.
Note: Any poll or quiz created within the meeting will also be available for use in the meeting. See How to Create a Meeting Poll/Quiz.

Application and Limitations
Use Zoom Surveys to create, store, and manage Zoom polls, quizzes, and surveys. Zoom polls and quizzes are launched within a Zoom meeting without the need for switching between applications. A survey can be added to a meeting and automatically sent to participants when the meeting ends.
Avoid this Pitfall
Create a strong naming convention for your polls and quizzes to easily locate and launch the one(s) you need in a Zoom meeting.
