How to make and manage reservations in Webcheckout's patron portal.

How to make and manage reservations in Webcheckout

  • Login to Webcheckout at Patron Portal (uwmadison.webcheckout.net/patron) 
  • Click on “Reserve’ located on the far left column.
    • Home tab with current checkouts on the left hand side.
  • Select a checkout center. Click on the down arrow, choose a location then click “ok”.

  • Read the “Message of the Day” then click “Dismiss” in the bottom right corner of the box.

  • Fill out the desired start and end times using the drop down arrows, then click on the book icon next to “Contents”.

  • Click on the picture of desired type of equipment you would like to reserve.

  • Click on the picture of the specific equipment you would like to reserve.

  • By clicking on “Timeline” a grid will appear with the availability of all items listed below. Please note this is for viewing only. Once you pick which one you would like to reserve, click on the shopping cart to add to your cart. The little calendar shows a timeline for only that specific item (webcam Kit 12 for example).

  • When the green shopping cart is clicked to add the item to your cart, the icon will turn red with a little “x” on it to indicate it is in your cart. You can click that 'x' to remove the item from your cart if desired. Next click on the “Return to Reservation” button in the bottom right corner. Please note you might have to scroll down.

    • If necessary, you can click the drop down arrow next to "Reservation has errors" at the top for more information on the specific error. A common error is that the return time is when a location is closed, too fix this please switch to a time the checkout location is open. To check the location hours click on the “Centers Calendar” button on the left side. Each renewal cannot be longer than 7 days. If that does not satisfy the error, reach out to technologycirculation@library.wisc.edu with as much information as possible. 
  • At the top of the screen there will be a green ribbon that says “Ready to Save”, click on the save button on the far right side to submit your reservation.
    • How to confirm the reservation.
    • To confirm the reservation went through, check the end date under “Scheduled Return”, see the green banner that pops up in the top right corner that says “Reservation Confirmed.”, or check your email for confirmation.  

How to cancel a reservation in Webcheckout

  • Login to Webcheckout at Patron Portal (webcheckout.net) 
  • The home page will display upcoming reservations, click into the allocation you wish to cancel.

  • On the left hand side under the “Actions” banner there will be a “Cancel CK-XXXXX” button, click that.

  • A popup will appear, click “Yes” to cancel the reservation.
    • pop up menu confirming you want to cancel the reservation
  • To confirm it was canceled, go to the home page and see if the allocation has disappeared. The other way to check is an email will be sent to your @wisc.edu email confirming it was canceled.
