CSIS - Learner Upload Tool - How to find and use the upload tool
Instructions for uploading participants to a course instance in CSIS. Use with or without Canvas. Generally used when students do not need to individually register.
Navigation instructions:
- Go to CSIS-2: https://admin.csis.wisc.edu/CSIS-2/
Log in with your NetID. If you are not authorized access to CSIS and you believe you should have access because you are administering a noncredit course, contact your IT administrator. - You will see the instance list. Search for the instance of the course you need to upload learners into.
- Click on the instance number to open the instance for the course.

- If this course is associated with a Canvas shell, check to make sure that there is an LMS Space associated with this instance. If a Canvas shell is not needed proceed to step 6.

- If an LMS Space needs to be added, you can find instructions in the KB article" LMS Spaces - How to add an LMS Course/Space
- If an LMS Space is already associated with the instance or one is not needed, prepare your spreadsheet for upload.
- Create an Excel file. Column labels need to match:
- Required labels: First Name, Last Name, Email Address.
- Optional labels: Job Title, Organization, Class Modality*, Phone Number, Address 1, Address 2, Address 3, City, State, Zip Code, Country, Country Code.
*online or in-person - You may make a copy of this Google Sheet Template with all the column labels pre-populated.
- Enter your learner information into the spreadsheet and save as an Excel file.
- Navigate to Participants in the CSIS Instance.

- Click on the button "Import Excel Participants". Choose your file for the upload.
